Berner Sennenhund

Bernese Mountain Dog is also known as Berner Sennenhund. They are well known to be a native Swiss breed from Berrnese Alps. They are mainly used for driving livestock, draft work and as a general farm guardian to warm the family. The appearances of the dogs are huge, grave, strapping dogs with a full heavy coat which is suitable for all climate conditions. The Berner is a tri colored with the base of black with markings of rust or tan and white colors. The head of the dog is broad with dark eyes. The tail is long and bushy. The berner looks like an intellectual, tender giant. The deep bark of word of warning is often accompanied by wagging tail. The height of the male dogs will be 24 to 28 inches, and for the female 23 to 27 inches. The weight of the male dogs should be within 85 to 110 lbs and the female dogs should be within 80 to 105 lbs.
